Nothing is true. Everything is permitted

So, as many of you may have seen earlier in the week, I recently produced a design for Qwertee.com. Here is the original design, an enlarged and expanded version of an earlier tattoo design I created for Blaze, that he soon had actualised. Dadge approached me asking for a large print of that original design, but I saw an opportunity to take the design a step further. As the first design was for a tattoo, it was necessary to keep it relatively simple, as over-complication would have made tattooing it too hard; you have to know what will work on paper and what will work on skin. So this time, as I was producing something to be put on a wall, I could go a bit further with the whole artistic flair of the thing. I very much enjoyed it, and it ended up being much bigger, better and more detailed than I had originally intended. I added the larger logo surrounding the original design, did a lot of shading work as well as adding the bleeding ink for an aged look, and taking the initiative to add the blood-like red paint, to which I even added my own finger prints. I liked it, and Spyro encouraged me, so I just hoped Dadge appreciated the license I took with it.

I used black ink pens combined with ink painting and watercolour paint on A2 white watercolour paper to create this piece; a mixed media technique I am rather fond of, and feel more confident with the more I experiment with it. Naturally, I adore the permanency and blackness of ink, and precise nature of working with pens; it’s been my media of choice since school. However, I am relatively new to the use of ink as a form of paint, as well as watercolours, but I find they both lend themselves rather well to my style of artwork.

The whole gamble of the thing paid off, as Dadge appeared impressed and happy with his piece, which is sitting waiting patiently in my house to be given to him as soon as possible.

I hope you like it too, and take the time to click through to qwertee.com to vote for the design as a t-shirt. And/or take a look at my facebook, tumblr and deviantart pages, as linked below.
